It isn't fair to the others like myself who built my career on executive and magerial work. It appears that since they were bought out IKEA, they have been focusing on the taskers that have building, moving, and shipping the most. I got featured as a Tasker of the week as well but I still couldn't get a client. Once I became Elite, I stopped getting steady clients for a while. My last good month was back in May when I was still pulling in at least $1200 from a repeat client. I managed to work hard enough to become an Elite Tasker where this used to mean you got more work, you were considered first for new tasks, had the opportunity to work at HQ, and a dedicated customer support line just for Elite Taskers. They started removing more and more things while giving us less and less as workers. TaskRabbit started out as something I truly enjoyed working for. Out of 21 reviews, I only had 1 bad one, and my percentage dropped a whopping 34%! Taskrabbit says that the encourage clients to leave honest reviews, but yet they don’t allow honest reviews about their platform be publicly posted on their site. The lower your metrics, the less job request you will receive because they won’t send clients to you and, of course no one is going to want to hire someone with a poor metrics, but keep in mind that it DOES’NT take much to make you look horrible. It’s literally the same message VERBATIM, and all that they do is change the signature of different person. Every response that I’ve received asking for an explanation is not only vague, but automated. You can’t speak to anyone over the phone or chat because they will end the conversation because it’s not considered an emergency. It tried contacting support several times, but they only allow you to do so through email. I declined an ongoing cleaning task for this problematic lunatic, and not only was she allowed to still review me (and of course she gave me a thumbs down), my reliability metrics went from 100 to 75%, and for some reason it dropped an additional 9% a few days later, leaving it at 66%. The review stating that all it takes is one client to ruin your metrics is TRUE. It took that long to finally reach elite status even though I never had one bad review, no cancellations, and my acceptance rate 100%. First, you're given a set of metrics to adhere by in. There are two major issues with TaskRabbit leaving the Tasker out in the cold. I discovered this regularly occurring after completing 10 tasks. The person on the other end may have the best intentions but the work to be done is vaguely described or simply not well explained. They expect the client to magically return to the site and re-hire you.Īs a tasker, more often than not you receive ridiculous requests that are poorly written which flags for a bad experience with a client. The work is transaction based which is how TaskRabbit prefers it. No matter how smart, intuitive, or business savvy you may be, the work you perform is not enough to sustain a working relationship. Most of the clients who hire you are under the impression that your services are an inexpensive alternative offered by a firm or corporation for the same type of work.

Set up your sales pitches, draw the map of the area you choose to work, determine your hourly rates, enter the daily/weekly schedule, and voila!! You're ready to start tasking. Once hired, you step into a world of independent contracting work and skies the limit. As a Tasker, you pay a $20 background check fee (other technology companies offering gig economy work normally do not charge this fee) to get onto the platform. The concept of technology connecting clients and an average person with advanced skills is genius.
